How the process works…

If you’d like to commission a piece of work, I prefer to chat through it with you first.

This is to get a good feel for exactly how you’d like it to turn out and I’ll usually be able to give a rough estimate of what the draft/s might cost as well as a ball-park figure for the final work. If this is satisfactory, 50% of the cost of the draft is payable before I go ahead with the design-work, offering perhaps an alternative or two in respect of layouts, scripts, colours or decorative elements, etc.

I will present the draft/s to you in person or by email, so we can discuss your preferences and other possibilities. A further draft may or may not be necessary, but even if you no longer wish to continue – the drafts must be paid for.

Once final design decisions and deadlines are agreed, I’ll be in a position to provide you with an accurate quotation for the work to be undertaken, as I’ll know precisely what it will entail. I’ll ask you to confirm acceptance of that quote in writing (an email is fine) and pay 50% of the total price at that point so that I can then carry out the work. I will advise you when it’s completed and either deliver or send the finished piece to you.

“I think the final piece of calligraphy looks lovely.  All the changes we discussed worked and have produced a super job.  It has been a pleasure working with you.  You have been most helpful, responsive and fast.  You listen and give space to let the final solution appear.  This commission has been a delightful and happy experience all round.  I will certainly use you again in future.

Many thanks indeed” Jeffery Courtney

“Thank you so much again for your wonderful work on our programme. I’m sorry we kept you waiting, and then chilled you to the marrow, but we are really pleased with how the calligraphy sequence looks, and very grateful to you for the care and attention you took with the research, and then to the writing on the day.”  Researcher, BBC London Factual

“We are really delighted with the Timeline.  It is a wonderful piece of work and we are so very grateful to you for your dedicated commitment in producing it.  We know you put in a great deal of hard work into researching details and ensuring accurate representation of the badges and coats of arms, and the end product is evidence of this.” Commissioning body of the University of Gloucestershire
